Who We're Looking For

We are seeking a full-time Tech Artist for our flagship and future games at our growing remote studio!

Gardens will be creating a large amount of highly stylized art and in-game assets. We're looking for a Tech Artist who can act as both a creative contributor and technical bridge between artists and programmers to create lush, seamless interactions between characters and the world around them.

As a Technical Artist, you will be a communicator and a expert problem solver. You possess the multi-disciplinary knowledge necessary to help determine and support the needs of the teams and projects studio-wide.

You will work with all departments to ensure art content and features are smoothly and efficiently integrated into the game while respecting the artistic vision and technical constraints of the project.

We seek collaborative individuals that are excited to contribute innovative and original ideas across all aspects of our game's production & design, working together as a team.

Responsibilities

  • Support and empower artists and engineers in the efficient creation and implementation of high-quality art assets
  • Create art assets that require high technical skill or specialist knowledge (VFX, Shaders, Post-processing, etc.)
  • Co-develop tools that support and empower our artists and designers
  • Research and develop technical tools for a project
  • Help to build, customize, streamline and maintain our art pipeline
  • Proactively seek out pipeline improvements, workflows and technology issues.
  • Think creatively to resolve technical challenges and limitations
  • Collaborate and communicate daily with teammates creating content.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Unity3D
  • At least one shipped title, or 3 years experience
  • Experience with Houdini and other procedural generation tools
  • Good insight of standard industry tools like 3DS Max, Maya, Houdini
  • Ample scripting experience
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability and drive to contribute innovative and original ideas across all aspects of the game's design & production.
  • Located in PT, MT, CT, ET time zone, or willing to relocate

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience in workflows, software, and techniques related to the creation of clothing, fur, hair.
  • Built tools for artists to import into a game engine
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency in areas such as lighting and rendering, texturing, materials and graphics-related programming languages (HLSL etc)
